Rank 01

Lucky Eagle Casino & Hotel

Rochester, Washington, south of Olympia

Chehalis country

Best for: Couples and road-trippers who want a quiet base between Olympia and the ocean beaches

Rooms: A hotel building joined to the main resort, with standard rooms and larger suite layouts. Families and long-stay guests should ask the desk which layouts give them the most room.

Key facilities

  • Hotel rooms and suites
  • Several places to eat, from quick counters to sit-down dining
  • An events centre for concerts and other live shows
  • An RV park beside the resort
  • Casino on site

Stand-out

The RV park lets road-trippers on the I-5 corridor pull in, plug in and still walk over to dinner and a show.

More details

This is the operator's own resort, owned by the Confederated Tribes of the Chehalis, which also publish this site. It sits on the Chehalis Reservation in farm and forest country. Day trips run north to the Capitol in Olympia or west towards Grays Harbor and the surf beaches.

Nearby: Olympia and the State Capitol campus, the Chehalis River valley, and the Pacific coast beaches to the west.

Little Creek Casino Resort

Shelton, Washington

South Sound inlets

Best for: Friends planning a spa break near the bottom of Puget Sound

Rooms: Hotel rooms and suites in a resort building close to the highway. Ask about rooms with a forest outlook or a soaking tub.

Key facilities

  • Hotel rooms and suites
  • Seven Inlets Spa
  • Indoor pool and hot tub
  • A choice of restaurants, including a seafood-focused one
  • Convention and events space
  • Casino on site

Stand-out

Seven Inlets Spa borrows its name from the South Sound waterways linked to the Squaxin Island people, and it turns a stay into a calm half-day.

More details

Run by the Squaxin Island Tribe, the resort is a convenient stop for anyone heading onto the Olympic Peninsula loop. Hood Canal oyster country and shoreline parks lie a short drive away.

Nearby: Hammersley Inlet, Olympia, and the eastern edge of the Olympic Peninsula.

  • What we weigh

Room comfort, a place to unwind, the kitchen, the country around it and an easy arrival.

  • How we're paid

Tagged links can bring lottologiyt a referral fee, while your nightly rate stays put.

  • Who owns #1

Lucky Eagle belongs to the Chehalis Tribes, the same people who publish these pages.

Reading lottologiyt's shortlist

This guide is for travellers planning a road trip, a short break or a concert weekend who want a comfortable hotel with real amenities. For each place we note the rooms, the spa or pool, where you can eat, any live events, and the landscape a short drive away.

We judged each hotel on five things. How comfortable and varied are the rooms? Is there a spa, pool or other place to rest? What is the food like? What is there to do outside the hotel? How easy is it to get there from an airport or highway? Number one is Lucky Eagle, which belongs to the same tribal government that publishes this guide; it sits first for that reason alone. Places two to ten were ordered by our editors' judgement.

Bookings that start from our buttons can pay us a referral fee; how we earn explains it.

Questions travellers ask

Which months suit each region?
Each coast has its own rhythm. Puget Sound and the Oregon shore are at their driest from July to September. Albuquerque is mild in spring and autumn. The Gulf Coast is easiest from late autumn to spring, outside the peak storm months. Lake Michigan towns are liveliest in summer. Resorts stay open all year, but weekend prices rise in each area's high season.
What about the airport transfer?
Each card lists a sensible arrival airport. A hire car is usually the simplest transfer for these resorts. Shuttle service exists at some properties on set days only, so check with the front desk ahead of your flight. For Clearwater, the Seattle–Bainbridge ferry is part of the route.
Who can sign the register at check-in?
At many casino resorts the person checking in must be 21. Some accept 18. Rules differ by state and by property, so confirm with the hotel before you book.
Could the bill come out higher than the quoted rate?
Quite possibly. Look for resort or amenity fees, parking, pet charges, cabana or spa extras, and a card hold at check-in. Ask the hotel for the full total when you reserve.
Are these places good for children?
Several are. Pearl River's water park and the beaches near Island View suit families well. Children usually have to stay out of the adult-only areas, and pool rules vary. Ask about cribs, rollaway beds and family rooms.
Do you take bookings?
Never. lottologiyt holds no room inventory and handles no payment. Pressing "Check availability" sends you to the resort's official site to reserve there, which may bring us a referral commission.
Why is Lucky Eagle at number one?
It is the publisher's own resort. The Confederated Tribes of the Chehalis own Lucky Eagle and also run this website, so we put it first and label it clearly. That position is not an independent verdict.

How the order was set

Lucky Eagle is at the top because its owners publish lottologiyt. We did not rank it on merit, and you should read its entry with that in mind. For places two to ten, editors compared what each resort's official website says about its rooms, wellness facilities, dining and events. They then looked at what lies within an easy drive and how straightforward the journey is.

No grades are handed out here, and no room totals or prices are made up. Where a detail is uncertain, we keep the wording general and suggest you confirm it with the hotel. Referral income from tagged links never shifts a hotel's position, and no place on the list can be bought.
